Volunteer community ambassador
Here is an exciting volunteer role to work within the local community, talking about the work we do. Could this be you?
The role
Would you like to help us spread the word about what we do by giving talks to local community groups, businesses and schools and representing us at community events in north Oxfordshire and south Northamptonshire?
Please watch our video to find out more.
Could you be the voice of Katharine House?
We are looking for volunteers with excellent communication and presentation skills who are also enthusiastic, friendly and approachable. Is this you? If so, then our exciting community ambassador role working alongside our Community Engagement Team within the local community could be ideal, talking about the work we do and reaching out to and supporting individuals, groups and organisations who raise money for Katharine House. This could include:
- attending cheque presentations
- giving talks and supporting local events explaining how we make every moment matter for the people we care for, and conveying our gratitude for their support
- helping us raise awareness of our flagship events, such as the Santa Fun Run
- identifying and developing additional awareness-raising opportunities
- delivering talks and presentations to local schools to help strengthen the relationships we have.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
About you
If you enjoy being out and about in the community and presenting to varied groups of people, this is a wonderful opportunity to support us and make a difference. We recognise how busy you may be and reassure you that this role provides great flexibility, allowing you to select the activities that appeal to you and making the most of your skills and experience.
For those with experience of working with children and young adults, we are looking specifically for volunteers who can help us to strengthen our relationships with schools by delivering engaging and memorable talks and presentations within schools and colleges. You might be a retired teacher or lecturer and have spare time during term time on weekdays to do this.
You may even have your own personal Katharine House story. If you would like to share this, we would love to support you to do so.
Interviews
Interviews will be arranged for a date and time to suit you. We will ask you to prepare and present a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation in a format and on a topic of your choice that you are passionate about.
Ideally, you will have your own transport to enable you to fulfil this community role.
Successful applicants will be given full training through a two-part induction.
