Katharine House Hospice invites community to dedicate a star at annual eventÂ
12 November 2025
For many years, Lights of Love has been an important tradition, bringing comfort to families at a difficult time of year. Each dedication is a personal tribute and a way to support the work of the hospice, as it continues to provide care and support for patients and families across north Oxfordshire and south Northamptonshire.Â
This year’s event will feature music from a local string quartet and the Hooky Singers, together with reflections from members of staff at the hospice. Guests will be invited to light a candle of remembrance and write a dedication star that will be displayed at the hospice over the festive period.Â
One regular supporter shared, “This is always an important moment in the year. It’s a lovely way to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us.”Â

Srinder Singh, Bereavement Care and Voluntary Services Lead at Katharine House Hospice, said, “Coping with the loss of someone you love is hard at the best of times, but for many, the time leading up to Christmas can be particularly difficult.  Lights of Love gives people the chance to come together and honour their loved ones, evoking memories of happy times shared.”   Â
Lights of Love takes place on Thursday 4 December 2025, starting at 7pm at Banbury Cross for the switch on of the Christmas Tree lights, followed by the service at 7.15pm at St Mary’s Church, Horsefair, Banbury. The event is open to all – regardless of whether you have been supported by the hospice, and of all faiths and none.Â
