Hospice Companion
A truly meaningful role that will see you making a difference by providing social contact and companionship for hospice patients and carers in the community.
The role
We want you to contribute to the well-being of patients and carers known to Katharine House Hospice. You will offer companionship and/or support with everyday activities to enhance the patient’s quality of life. Patients may be on our inpatient ward, at home and in the community.
We ask that you have the skills and personal qualities to deliver ‘active listening’ without feeling a need to fix everything. You should have enthusiasm and confidence to meet new people in their homes and have a clear understanding of patient confidentiality and safeguarding.
You will need to work without direct supervision, relying on your initiative but also log all interactions, as well as, maintain regular contact with other volunteers involved with the project and the Hospice Companion Co-ordinator.
We also ask that you are within the catchment area of the hospice (north Oxfordshire, south Northamptonshire and south Warwickshire).
